One life long dream achieved in August

On August 24th, I had an opportunity to volunteer on a special rare millage train trip. It ran from Hoboken out to Bethlehem and back. The trip was fantastic and everything went off without a hitch. We even arrived back in Hoboken 30 minutes early. The entire day was long (we had to be in Hoboken at 6:30 AM) but the end reward was worth it. Besides getting to enjoy a special trip that doesn't happen everyday for free, my father and I got to ride the equipment move back to Morristown at the end of the day.

It gave me a chance to do something I have always wanted to do since I was a little kid, I got to ride in the observation section of a private car and watch everything move past me as we returned to Morristown. A lot of you will say wow that sounds like a really stupid dream to have, but to me it was so surreal. Sitting in a big leather chair enjoying a soda after a long day of constantly working is relaxing. You get to watch the world pass you by, and even get a chance to be alone with your thoughts as you pass every station.

You also get the added bonus of taking a train that is like an express to your destination in no time at all. Anyone who takes NJ Transit knows that alone is an oxymoron! Getting to speed right through my own hometown's train station in a private car was just amazing. The whole ride home was an experience that I will never forget.

The Sun is setting as we go towards Newark Broad Street.
